Sporting opportunities

Sporting Schools
Each term, we secure funding to bring in specialist coaches who help students develop a range of skills.
Swim School
Swim school usually takes place at the end of Term 4, running for two weeks at Western Suburbs Pool in Unanderra. The program is subsidised by our P&C
Carnivals
We hold our swimming carnival in Term 1, and both athletics and cross country carnivals in Term 2. These events are run by our teachers, with opportunities for students to progress to district, regional, and state levels.
Stage 3 Trials
Many of our students are highly talented athletes. To support and showcase their abilities, they are given the opportunity to trial for the South Wollongong PSSA team, with the chance to progress further in the competition. These students often play their chosen sport outside of school with a local team.
Stage 3 Knockouts
Stage 3 students participate in knockout competitions, usually in netball, soccer, or football. Teams train during lunch breaks and compete against other schools. Only winning games progress to the next round.
Primary Gala Days
FRPS participates in a variety of off-site gala days throughout the year, aiming to cater to all interests. We register for events such as OzTag, soccer, netball, and non-tackle rugby. These days involve a small cost.
External Providers
To inspire more students to get involved in sport, we invite special guests such as Illawarra Dragons players with their 'Best You Can Be' program. We're also fortunate to host free skills sessions from local clubs like Illawarra Hawks - and occasionally, even an Olympic athlete!
Run Club / Athletics Club
Each morning in the lead-up to cross country and athletics, we offer a teacher-run Run Club or Athletics Skills Club before school. Open to all students, it's a great opportunity for those keen to get extra practice ahead of school and district carnivals.
